LONE EAGLE DOCK

Almost 80 percent of KHC coal produced is shipped via barge from Knight Hawk’s Lone Eagle Dock on the Mississippi River. The facility features one mile of docking cells and a conveyor system that directly loads barges at a rate of 1,600 tons per hour. Two tugboats, the 1,650 HP River Hawk and the 600 HP Totem Coal, position barges for loading and transport.

Lone Eagle's proximity to its mines allows Knight Hawk to load barges blended with various products. Knight Hawk is able to utilize the side-by-side truck hoppers at the dock to meet an exacting quality standard for each customer based on their individual needs. Whether it be a sulfur, BTU, chlorine or sizing requirement, Knight Hawk can create a blend to meet it.

Lone Eagle is favorably positioned down river from all locks and dams. The facility offers quick, unimpeded movement to the Gulf of Mexico through NOLA. Lone Eagle is also the northern most producer dock located on the Mississippi River offering very competitive rates to all customers located on the Upper Mississippi River.
